2. Montevideo – Uruguay
On the banks of the Rio de la Plata in Uruguay we find the wonderful Montevideo, capital of the country that completely concentrates the Uruguayan essence.
Uruguay is a Spanish-speaking country. Its inhabitants have a distinctive accent that you’ll only hear in Uruguay. Something that you must know about Montevideans or Uruguayans in general is that they really love their mate (herbal tea), and they always carry it with them no matter where they’re. Natives of this city love to meet new people and organize asados with their friends, they tend to take specific days of the week to do this.
Montevideo is freedom and tolerance in its purest form, there are no prejudices of race, religion or sexual orientation of any kind and all citizens live together harmoniously. If you are not convinced by our words, you should know that the Uruguayan country is considered avant-garde when compared to its Latin American neighbors, to the extent that equal marriage, marijuana use, and voluntary abortion are legal.
In terms of cost, Montevideo is often considered an expensive city from the outskirts, yet its inhabitants enjoy sufficient income to be able to meet their expenses and even keep a percentage as savings. The minimum wage in Montevideo is approximately 850 euros per month and renting a one-bedroom apartment in the downtown area can be worth approximately 320 euros, although if you go a little further away you can get cheaper renting prices.
The climate in Montevideo is humid subtropical, in other words, its winters are cold and humid, its summers are hot and even more humid with frequent rainfall. The average temperature is between 7°C and 24°C.
