3. Monterrey – Mexico
Located in the state of Nuevo Leon and capital of the state, is the city of Monterrey, a beautiful cosmopolitan city where Mexican culture doesn’t go unnoticed. When we talk about Monterrey, we refer to one of the cities with the best quality of life in Mexico and Latin America.
As you may know, the official language of the Mexican country is Spanish, although due to its great economic and industrial importance, there are usually many English speakers among its inhabitants, to such an extent that almost 80% of the natives speak both languages perfectly.
Natives of Monterrey (known as Regos) are very energetic people, always going from one place to another and arriving late everywhere, since in this place punctuality is not a strength.
However, natives of Monterrey are extremely respectful when working and they’ll be the first to invite you to drink a few “chelas” (that’s how they call beers) after work.
When it comes to costs, Monterrey is accessible and stable for all its inhabitants, since it’s the economic and industrial epicenter of the north of the country. The minimum wage is 600 euros per month, and the renting price for a one-bedroom apartment in the downtown area is around 300 euros, although if you move away a little, prices drop substantially.
The climate of this city is semi-arid warm, in other words, its seasons are clearly delimited. Winters are short, cold and very dry, while summers are long, very hot and the sun never seems to hide. The average temperature is between 10°C and 34°C.
