1. San Jose – Costa Rica
Located in the center of Costa Rica and being its capital, we find the beautiful city of San Jose, a city with a European skeleton and American blood.
In Costa Rica, the official language is Spanish although among its millions of inhabitants we can find foreigners from all around the world, so do not be afraid if you suddenly go down the street and hear someone speaking Chinese or French. People of José are defined by themselves as “Sun” or “Mountain”, they’re full of joy and enthusiasm for life who’re always smiling, so if you are worried about making friends, you can rest assured that in this place is for you.
Like every capital city, San José offers quality in sectors such as education, economy and society to the point of being considered one of the cities with the best quality of life in all of Central America. And if that’s not enough for you, you should also know that you’ll find nature everywhere, with urban areas contrasting with mountains everywhere. The city combines the busy life of a large city with the peace of a valley, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
When it comes to costs, San José is accessible to all kinds of pockets. The minimum wage is around 730 euros and the renting price for one-bedroom apartment in the downtown area is around 400 euros, although if you settle in more remote areas you can get it for about 250 euros.
Being in a valley area, San José has a temperate climate, where its winters are short and dry with no rainfall, while its summers are very wet and with frequent rainfall. The average temperature is between 17°C and 27°C.
